Jesus made some profound statements in the Bible that ought to be appreciated as foundation for those who want to know God. These statements cast a shadow of doubt on God’s nature. Let us examine some of these statements.

No man heart scene guard at any time, the only begotten son, which is in the bosom of the father, he had declared him.” John 1: 18

This truth cannot be over-emphasized. It is more like a disclaimer, stating: “I am the only one who can tell you exactly who the Father is, if anyone says something about Him to you that is contrary, do not receive it. I am the only custodian of the Father…” No man has seen God.

Whatever Moses and the Prophets said about Him must be validated by Jesus. There could be some pockets of truth here and there in the Old Testament. But some of their opinions again were based on their perception of God’s personality. Anything that does not fit into the picture of God as given to us by Jesus must be discarded. Jesus is the only one who can tell us exactly who the Father is.

“Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Phillip? He this hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” John 14: 8-10

Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father, but Jesus told him point blank that anyone who has seen Him, has seen the Father. He is the revelation and sole custodian of the Father. Jesus pre-existed as God; He became a man and died a man. Anything that is not about Jesus is not about God because Jesus is the face of God. To know the Father’s character, see Jesus’ character. To know whether the Father gets angry or not, see Jesus’ behavior. Jesus reveals God. If you remove Jesus from the Bible, what you have left are a collection of irrelevant poems, and historical events. Jesus is the life of the Bible.

Who Jesus is to you, makes all the difference in the world. If you think Jesus was just a prophet, then you have missed God. If you also think Jesus was just a messenger of God, you are yet to get the message.
